While there are many places that sell used Gateway laptops, there are not a lot of places that sell them cheap. Fortunately I have searched many different websites trying to find the best deals and I have come to one overriding conclusion.
The cheapest place to find used Gateway notebook computers is on auction websites such as eBay. However, there are a few things you need to know before buying a used Gateway laptop from an auction website.
When buying something from an auction website there are a few things to check to make sure that you are buying from someone reputable. The best way is to check out the seller’s reputation rating. When you do this you should look at the degree of positive feedback, with higher scores being better. Personally, I look for people who have positive feedback rating of 99% or above.
Besides this there are a few other things to look for. Primarily, you should look to see how many transactions the seller has performed before, since this will tell you if they are an experienced seller or just starting out.
I personally look for people who have sold at least a couple hundred items before, since this usually indicates that they are not some fly-by-night operation. Finally, reading people’s personal comments about a given seller can be very enlightening as well.
Beyond buying from auction websites there are one or two other things to consider when buying a used Gateway laptop. First off is the fact that many used laptops, don’t come with a warranty. This in part explains why they are so much cheaper than brand new models. Moreover, if you follow the tips above about from buying you reduce your risks considerably.

Finally, just make sure that everything you need for your laptop is included in the purchase price. Many people sell used Gateway laptops without things like operating systems, proper cables.
